Molasses R Us

Another murky day with no stirring. The air thick with molasses from the cattle’s winter feed. At a time when there is little blossom to tease the senses, molasses is wonderful. It’s wonderful at any time. Not everybody agrees I’m quite sure. Easy day again. Work begins again on Monday although they may not have anything for me for a few days until they get up and running again. January is usually deader than dead. No-one has any money left to spend.

Should have gone shopping today. Ran out of dog food again. Spoilt him with bolognaise sauce on half a veda… that seemed to do the trick. Curled up beside me asleep and content.

Scrubadub dub

I’ve eaten so much I’m fit to burst. Dad stayed for lunch and dinner too. It was nice to have him linger for a change… we both fell asleep after dinner although mine was only a cat nap while I kept listening sub consciously to a tv programme about Conan Doyle and some guy in Scotland who was falsely imprisoned for 18 years due to corruption and Conan Doyle’s slide off into faerie land and the supernatural…. maybe I dreamt it. Seemed surreal enough. So anyway…. he finally went home around 8pm.

He left my washing machine in bits…. matters little… I havent been able to use it in three months anyhow. Bearings gone or some such at the back of the drum. What was left of the bearings have rolled off across the floor…. or at least those of them that still were round enough to roll to freedom. The deformed ones just flopped onto the floor and played dead. It’s an old machine…. doesn’t owe me anything, but he’s going to try and get replacement parts….. maybe 2nd hand. Dunno if new parts are still available for an 18 year old machine. Handwashing makes it obvious that I have way too many clothes and none of them recent purchases. I cant seem to wear stuff out fast enough to keep up with fashions but that sort of thing never bothered me much. Just as well. Could do with a washboard.

Thomas Robert

I feel incredibly moved that after 12 hours labour, and just 15 minutes after giving birth to her first son, my little cousin mustered up the energy to talk to me on the phone and tell me how beautiful is the little bundle of miracle snuggled up to her. She sounded exhausted and small wonder.

I’ll celebrate once I quit blubbering!
