I was otherwise occupied at the time and didn’t get to run out an look directly at the sun to see the partial effects visible all over Europe. I’m sure it was like any other solar eclipse. See one, you’ve seen them all and yet the Beeb headline still says World marvels at total eclipse. Ho hum…

Well, it’s a natural phenomena capturing the human spirit, which doesn’t happen often. It’s a refeshing change from “world marvels at new reality tv show” or “world marvels at football match”. To appreciate an eclipse you can be anywhere in the world and (at the very severe risk of sounding cheesey) you can be rich or poor, black or white, etc. etc. and you don’t have to be on the winning team.
