Do You Milk Your Sheep?

sheepmilk.jpg

With so many sheep in Northern Ireland, it’s a surprise that sheep milk isn’t more widely available. Having said that I don’t think it’s available at all. Goats milk yes. Sheep milk no. Now why would that be? Is it too much trouble or what?

I’d like to make sheep milk yoghurt but since there’s no sheep milk to be had I have to buy the stuff ready made and imported from Greece of all places. Now I know they have a lot of sheep and goats in Greece but we have just as many here so there’s no excuse for the lack.

Mail order milk may not be so hot. Unpasteurised is fine by me. Have to heat the stuff to make yoghurt anyhow. If anyone has spied sheep milk for sale somewhere around the Ards vicinity, please let me know.

Monkey See Monkey Do

1_richards.jpg

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has been taken to hospital in New Zealand after injuring himself while on holiday in Fiji. Media reports in Australia and New Zealand said Richards had hurt his head when he fell out of a palm tree. Source

At 62 and with the abuse he’s given his body he’s lucky to still be alive. Good ol Keef… it’ll take more than gravity and the ground to kill him. Chances are he didn’t feel any pain either.

What I’d really like to know is what he was doing up there in the first place. Fresh coconut for his pina colada? Chasing those squirrels on wheels again? What possible reason could there be for a 62 year old to be up a palm tree?

It’s a Man Thing

manthing.jpg

Apparently, it isn’t important if you name a time to do something and do it 5 days later. So I’m reliably informed. ‘Men don’t worry about such things‘ he said. ‘Men don’t need to do things when they say they’re going to do them. ‘I’ll ring you Wednesday” doesn’t necessarily mean that Wednesday will be the day. It might be Friday but in the world of men, that isn’t relevant. Friday is just as good as Wednesday… because it’s really the same thing.‘ Hmmm!

I’ve been exasperated by this manly attitude on numerous occasions.

“I’ll fix your washing machine don’t buy a new one.” Six months later I still have a washing machine that doesn’t work. In fact… the whole drum has been taken away to repair so I don’t even have the choice of putting it back together again myself and me poor knuckles are raw from hand scrubbing… :violins:

“I’ll be there at 6pm” … so you have dinner ready for shortly after 6 only to have the one who named the time show up at 9pm and then complain because things are a bit dried up.

Is it because ALL men have some sort of genetic defect that makes their sense of timekeeping and reliablility dysfunctional or is it just the ones I know?

DON’T MAKE PROMISES YOU CAN’T KEEP!!

I’m A Geek, I’m A Weirdo

I’ve spent the entire evening playing with Flash trying to teach myself a thing or two. Having said that I have no idea what use it’ll ever be - other than doing web sites with everything squashed into a frame in the middle of a largely wasted screen and charging incredulous amounts of money for the privilege. It felt good to conquer something without using the manufacturers helpful hints.

Read the Instructions

I rarely use the instructions, generally because they don’t make any sense. Most user manuals are written by idiots who already know how to use the item in question and forget that the instructions are meant to be for people with no clue at all. I always understand them better after I’ve ignored them and found out how it works by fiddling with it… breaking it… sticking it back together and fiddling with it more. Once you get the general hang of something it’s plain sailing. I don’t know if this will be the case with Flash though. It seems like a steep learning curve and I know nobody who knows how to do anything with it so I can’t phone a friend.

Any voluntary tutors out there, feel free to chip in with your wisdom and phone number. ;-)

How to Filter in One Easy Lesson

One of the most irritating things when driving, is getting stuck behind someone who doesn’t know how to filter. A lot of the time their nervousness is caused by other ignorant drivers who own the road and think the horn is for making people aware of their ownership. Lack of courtesy is as much to blame as timidity when it comes to filtering. So here’s a video of how it should be done.
