Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has been taken to hospital in New Zealand after injuring himself while on holiday in Fiji. Media reports in Australia and New Zealand said Richards had hurt his head when he fell out of a palm tree. Source
At 62 and with the abuse he’s given his body he’s lucky to still be alive. Good ol Keef… it’ll take more than gravity and the ground to kill him. Chances are he didn’t feel any pain either.
What I’d really like to know is what he was doing up there in the first place. Fresh coconut for his pina colada? Chasing those squirrels on wheels again? What possible reason could there be for a 62 year old to be up a palm tree?

He couldn’t get no satisfaction, so like a jumping jack flash with sympathy for the devil he decided to paint it black, then a disgruntled monkey told him to “get off a my cloud”.

Aside from the Stones… Keith Richards is a pretty accomplished musician. I was lucky enough to acquire a bootleg of him in the studio playing blues for the techs to set the levels or whatever it is they do… at the time of the Voodoo lounge album. Some clinking of glasses going on and chit chat back and forth while he fiddles around. Maybe I’ll stick a track on the radio blog thing later on when I find the CD.
