RAH RAH RAH David Gilmour

Much as I’m not impressed by anything that David Gilmour is producing lately, I have to admit that he’d be worth going to see just to hear Crosby and Nash do their thing. As promised T rang to let me have an earfull of ambience from the Royal Albert Hall. The connection enhanced the sound to the grand heights of something mystical. Not quite able to hear it properly and with much ear straining I tried to make out which tune in particular it was… and just as I was getting it… deadness. Cut off mid riff. I think he enjoys the tease of letting me hear snippets barely long enough to whet the appetite. Regardless of the hissy connection and the acoustic drawbacks of a phone speaker it sounded not at all bad. Having said that, he was playing Pink Floyd tunes at the time and not his own inane drivel. Well… there is one good track that he played on Later with Jools Holland…. a real string bender but I dunno what it’s called or is it obvious? Heard a snippet of that one too. Nice one T! I’m sure that given the right circumstances his stuff would grow on me but those circumstances are unlikely to come about unless somebody else instigates them. I intend to maintain my position of stubborn stupidity and refuse to pursue it to the point of purchase. Invite me to tea and play it incessantly… feel free. Make me eat my words if you dare. Gauntlet thrown.

I shall get back to my singing along with Imogen Heap…

… 90 minutes later
After hearing Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Arnold Layne and Echoes while lying in a hot bath, I’m wishing I’d been there if only to hear Echoes. So did Richard Wright join him to sing Arnold Layne?

Oh no! Wish You Were Here played down the phone to me. It’s more than I can bear!!

and Comfy Numb…

I fear the end is nigh.

So…is your friend a sadist for keying into sentiments he feels fair certain that you hold deeply?

I suppose the equivalent here would be seeing Fats Domino get up on the stage and he doesn’t, cannot play anything due to PTSD (at the New Orleans Jazz Festival this year).

I’m fairly certain Mozart was a jerk, but you know, there’s the music to concider.

Sadist?? We did once have a brief converstaion about S&M or was that M&S…
Sadist… hmmm… I’ll let him answer that one for himself! He did go to the trouble of getting me a ticket but I couldn’t get there so… more of a sweetheart I should think.

Mozart a jerk? Quite possibly. That kind of genius is often lacking in social skills. Are you comparing Mozart with David Gilmour or what?

Arnold Layne? Wasn’t that a Syd Barrett song? Sacrilege! I thought they steered cleared of the Crazy Diamond’s stuff. Gilmour wasn’t even in the band back then!
BTW Caroline, I take it that Flashbacks & Ramblings is no more? Any reason for the name change?

Yep you are absolutely right. It is a Syd song. Richard Wright sings Arnold Layne and that was another one they did on Jools programme.
On todays telephone update to fill in the blanks, I’m told that Nick Mason also joined him for the encores and the whole bing jing was caught on camera with the possibility of a DVD to rake in even more.

No reason at all for the name change Ciaran, other than I was persuaded by the particular wine I was drinking that FnR seemed less than imaginative although I dont know what the wine was thinking when it replaced FnR with FIAWI. That’s cheap plonk for you! I wouldn’t fuss about changing links… matters little unless of course it matters to you.

Ach!

You understand analogies.

I wouldn’t put Mozart and Gilmour in the same solar system. I think it’s usually one star per system anyway, ain’it?
