The End of an Era?

For some weeks now, the allfloyd chat room has been missing. It wasn’t a place that I often frequent these days but tended to still look in on weekends just to see if anything had changed for the better. When my files kept coming up with the same quote from the server, ie.
“Forbidden
You don’t have permission to access /chat/comments.html on this server.”
I thought that the wide open back door that’s been there for a decade has suddenly been slammed in my face. I put it down to maintenance at first but on checking the main page, the links for the chat room and hypernews group have gone from the menu. It’s very sad to see it disappear after all this time but then there’s always the equally empty alternative allfloyd cloned chat for anyone touched unbearably by the loss (heh!). Who knows, maybe Orrie will come up with something new and revamp the site.
Has it gone for good or momentarily?

Hell and damnfire… I learned everything I know in there… although I must admit its been years since I messed with anybody’s head HTML’y
But what about poor old (Dave) and (Downhill) .. how will they cope without the chatroom to upset each other with… maybe they’ve become bosom buddies and ran away together to San Franciso Bay. . . . I feel a song coming on…

Oh! You know me from the Waters vs Gilmour email exchange. Some of us audiogalaxy members had this debate thingy going about whether it’s ok for Waters to go on with a tour (2002 World tour)… I knew this yank somethin guy (I forgot his name, whom I met at allfloyd)… so I forwarded this email thingy to him, and he sent it to ya, and then u replied to him and he sent it back to me… and I got all pissed at ya, and we argued for a month if I can recall — I had the notion u’re a Gilmour fanboy remember? lol!! Little did I knew I was about to put my foot in my mouth. Why else do u think I’m still intimidated by ya?
Afterwards, u gave me the url of Oink’s chat room and that’s how I knew Oink for a short while, before I couldn’t log in anymore cuz of some stuff he did at the server end. Ah yes, Dutch was also at smokecave (wasn’t that the name?)… I knew him from allfloyd. I’ve heard about Downlhill, either from u or Heartmother. Never saw him tho (is this the same D who’s banned from ur allfloyd chatroom clone?). Oh and the most confusing person I ever talked to was this person who went by Mother, and kept insisting how Wall is like the ultimate album but Waters as a lyricist sucks… I can never make any sense of that! But, hey I didnt fight with Mother for a change, I was too busy to figure that riddle and it’s still unsolved.
ah yes… now I remember. I haven’t spoken to Mike the Yank in a couple of years. Last I heard he was coaching a hurling team and talking of joining up to go fight the EhRabs. Downhill and D are different people. Mother is from Kentucky… make allowances
and she’s also a bosom buddy of Oinks. I’m sure eh could put you in touch with her if you’d like to continue the arguement…. however futile!

One day I was popping into the chatroom and couldn’t. So I did a screach on why…
Then I added “d” to the search. To my surprise a few sites had comments on this “d” person. People I never heard of…of course I was blamed for the site coming down. Oh well, not the first time and won’t be the last time…it’s on them.

I think the site is down because they’ve moved it to a host with no cgi… after all… you can hardly be held accountable for the disappearance of the newsgroup too… I dont think you were ever in there unless under a pseudonym…

It was a mpeg-1 I got off Limewire. Converted to a h.264. It’s been stepped on a few times…
