On and on and on it goes…
283 ViewsThis evening I feel like drinking beer in a fast car listening to Jan Hammer playing very very loud with my jacket sleeves rolled up but instead I am compelled to finish a super sized pair of hand stitched cream linen interlined curtains as a fitting backdrop to this not yet ironed loose cover what I finished earlier in the week for a very non symmetrical sofa. It’s no illusion, it’s a nightmare… the right side really is higher than the left by a couple of inches.

And all pleasure must be sacrificed just so as the lady who commissioned my services doesn’t have my guts for garters when they aren’t hanging in her window (the curtains, not my guts) to catch the splashes of red wine and turkey gravy come Monday. Hopefully this time tomorrow there will still be somewhere open to buy a crate of something numbingly fine and drink in the last dregs of celebrating my entrance to the world.
Monday is demolition day when the weevils from hell will surely die the death they deserve.

Something about the whole year has me in depression such that I cannot rise out of bed, except for having listened to a piece on Oscar Levant, whom would have been 100 years old today. It had an excerpt of his appearance on The Jack Parr Show, where he talked of his depression and longing for the days of deep apathy instead.
Good grief!
I hope you can rise out of whatever it is, including bed, and be less depressed about all that you lack and find some cheer in counting your blessings. Think positive.
Jan Hammer? Didn’t he do the theme tune to Miami Vice? I wonder whatever became of him.
The very man.
